Bladder management
Support with intermittent catheterisation, suprapubic/urethral catheter care, urostomy support, fluid balance, and early spotting of UTI signs—following agreed plans.
Bowel care programme
Timed routines, digital stimulation, suppositories/enemas as per plan, privacy and positioning, hydration and fibre prompts—unhurried and respectful.
Skin integrity & pressure care
Turning and pressure-relief schedules, seating checks, daily skin inspections, wound care and pressure-area management; liaison on cushions, mattresses and overlays.
Mobility, transfers & positioning
Safe use of hoists and slings, slide-board transfers, profiling beds, posture support, and gentle range-of-movement exercises as advised by therapists.
Spasticity, pain & tone
Passive stretches, splint checks, heat/cold and relaxation techniques, prompt escalation if pain or tone patterns change.
Respiratory support (where assessed and competency-signed)
Assisted cough techniques, nebulisers, and ventilator/tracheostomy support; monitoring for secretions and breathlessness.
Autonomic dysreflexia (AD) awareness
Prevention, early recognition, and a clear red-flag plan (triggers, first steps, when to call 999); AD kit kept visible and ready where prescribed.
Therapy carry-over
We follow physio/OT programmes, seating and posture guidance, and help with home adaptations and equipment set-up.
Meaningful, independent living
Support to study, work, see friends, attend appointments, pursue sport and hobbies; confidence with public transport or vehicle transfers.
Emotional wellbeing & family support
Calm companionship, goal-setting, peer/community signposting, practical coaching for family members, and flexible respite so everyone can rest.
Help around the home
Light housekeeping, laundry, meal prep, hydration prompts, shopping and errands—keeping the environment safe and comfortable.
Clinical tasks (nurse-led, competency-assured): catheter care, bowel programmes, wound/pressure-area care, PEG/NG feeding, diabetes support, oxygen/nebulisers, tracheostomy care, and emergency escalation pathways.
