As a care provider, we involve service users in selecting their care team by listening to their preferences, needs, and values during assessments and care planning. We arrange meet-and-greets so service users can meet potential carers, helping us identify cultural compatibility, shared interests, communication styles, and personal preferences before care begins. This helps build trust and supports strong, person-centred relationships.

While we aim to respect each service user’s choices, we must also ensure all carers are appropriately trained, qualified, and have passed safeguarding and background checks. We also consider staff availability to ensure continuity of care if a preferred carer is unavailable. By combining service user choice with professional standards, regular reviews, and open communication, we deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
