It can. NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is a package of care funded entirely by the NHS for people whose main need is a health need rather than a social one. It is not means-tested, so it does not depend on income or savings, and it can be provided in a person’s own home.

Eligibility is assessed by the NHS, not by the care provider. It usually begins with a checklist screening, followed by a full assessment carried out by a multidisciplinary team, with the decision made by the local Integrated Care Board. If someone does not qualify for full CHC, support may still be available through a personal health budget, local authority funding or self-funding.
