Start with the basics that are easy to verify. The provider should be registered with the Care Quality Commission and rated Good or Outstanding, and you should be able to see a named clinical lead who is accountable for the care. Ask how staff are trained for the specific condition, not just care in general.

Beyond that, the questions worth asking are about consistency and oversight. How is the care plan written, and how often is it reviewed? Who covers when a regular carer is away? How are families involved in decisions? A good provider treats the family as partners who hold real knowledge about the person, and is happy to answer all of this clearly rather than after you have signed.
